President Rodrigo Duterte will be vaccinated against COVID-19 in public according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.
“I think the President has said he will now have himself vaccinated publicly, he only has to announce when it will be done. I think this recognizes the fact na naghihintay ang taumbayan ng senyales kung magpapabakuna sila o hindi,” Roque said in a media briefing.
“Ninanais po ng Presidente na lahat ng Pilipino ay magkaroon ng kumpyansang magpabakuna dahil ang bakuna po ang solusyon sa pandemya ng COVID-19,” he added.
Duterte previously said that he will be getting his vaccines in private, triggering speculations that he was already vaccinated together with the Presidential Security Group (PSG).
Roque, on the other hand, said that they have yet to see if Vice President Leni Robredo will aslo be prioritize in the government’s vaccine program.
“I do not know if there is also a public clamor for the Vice President but in terms of priority, the President is a senior citizen and entitled to priority. Let’s see if the VP will fall under any of the priorities,” Roaue said.
The government is facing delays on the arrival of the first COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer over supply agreements and shortage of vaccine supplies.
