As part of the celebration of Independence Day on June 12, the management of the Metro Rail Transit 3 (MRT-3) and Light Rail Transit 1 (LRT-1) announced that commuters will have free rides.
The DOTr posted an advisory on social media announcing that the free rides are available from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“Sa darating na ika-12 ng Hunyo 2019, magbibigay ng libreng sakay ang DOTr-MRT3 bilang pakikiisa ng ahensya sa paggunita ng ika-121 anibersaryo ng proklamasyon ng Araw ng Kasarinlan ng Pilipinas,” the agency said.
In a separate report, LRT line 1 Corporate Communications head Rochelle Gamboa said the public can avail of free rides during peak hours or from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
