Armed Forces of the Philippines chief General Felimon Santos Jr. has tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana announced Friday.
“This morning I was informed by CSAFP Gen Santos that he tested positive of the COVID19 – the result he got yesterday,” Lorenzana told ABS-CBN News.
Earlier, the AFP chief went on isolation after announcing that a senior military official and his spouse was diagnosed with COVID-19.
The defense chief said he had close contact with the military chief during several occasions – during the turnover of medical supplies at Villamor Air Base last March 21 and on March 22 at the AFP General Headquarters in Quezon City and at the Heroes Hall, Malacañang.
“I have no symptoms but protocol says I have to self-quarantine for 14 days,” Lorenzana said.
