A Dubai official clarified that the video spreading on social media showing deep flooding in an identified tunnel was not taken in Dubai.
The caption of the video shared on Facebook says the video was taken at the Shindagha Tunnel in Dubai.
According to Taleb Julfar, CEO of Dubai Municipality for Infrastructure Services Sector, the video is in fact, not even in the UAE, reported Gulf News.
“You can see this is an open underpass [in the video]. Shindagha is a tunnel. There was no flooding in the tunnel yesterday. It was fine,” Julfar explained.
In the viral video, vehicles are seen submerged in the floodwater. Police sirens can also be heard from the background.
The video was shared on social media following the continuous rain that had been hitting the emirate over the last few days.
Julfar urged the public to avoid sharing unverified content online especially if it will impose fear among UAE residents.
