The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Wednesday that some 14,908 people or some 3,821 families have been affected by Typhoon Betty which had an international name Super Typhoon Mawar.
In its latest report, the NDRRMC said that most of the affected residents are in 94 barangays in Ilocos, Cagayan, Central Luzon, Mimaropa, Western Visayas, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).
LGUs implemented preemptive evacuation of 5,981 individuals or 1,815 families.
The NDRRMC adds that at least five houses were reported either partly or totally damaged in Ilocos, Central Luzon, and CAR. Estimated cost of damage is over P60,000.
A total of 313 classes were suspended and 99 work suspensions were declared due to the typhoon. The government also provided P1,958,008 to victims.
Betty is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Thursday evening or Friday morning, PAGASA said.
