UAE president announces remote work for federal employees during Ramadan

Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the official working hours of Federal Government’s employees during the Holy Month of Ramadan will be 70 percent by remote work, and 30 percent in person on Fridays.

He also announced that the attendance of students of public universities, as well as school students, will be remote on Fridays while considering the pre-set dates for their exams.

It later announced the official working hours for Abu Dhabi Government employees. On Fridays during Ramadan, it will be 70 per cent remote and 30 per cent in office, and 100 per cent remote for government universities and schools, considering prescheduled exams.

Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, has also directed Dubai government entities to implement a remote working system.

The Dubai Government Human Resources Department has also announced that the official working hours during the holy month will be from Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 2:30pm, and on Fridays from 9 am to 12noon.

The resolution aims to offer more flexible official working hours in consideration of social interactions between families during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

The Federal Authority for Government Human Resources (FAHR) had emphasized earlier that ministries and federal authorities could implement flexible working or remote work schedules during Ramadan in line with their specific requirements.

The authority had also announced the official working hours during the holy month of Ramadan for the employees of federal authorities. According to the circular, the official working hours for ministries and federal authorities will be from 9:00 to 14:30 from Monday to Thursday, and from 9:00 to 12:00 on Friday.
