Bringing this medicine to UAE will land you in trouble

Sharing and posting health videos, especially drug-related might cause panic and gives the wrong impression than good, UAE authorities warned the public.

Recently, a video clip of a medicine with the trade name of ‘Flumox’ went viral.

The drug Flumox, Dr Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health and the Chairman of the Supreme Committee of Medicinal Fraud said the medicine was not registered in the country and therefore must not be circulated here.

Travellers carrying personal medicines are advised to seek permission from Registration and Drugs Control Department of MOH prior to traveling to the UAE.

Accordingly, police authorities in Egypt had confiscated six million pills of the drug in 2015.

The UAE is keen to develop this important sector and support pharmaceutical security by providing a legal and legislative environment, Al Amiri said.

Al Amiri urged the public not to spread any information related to health that was not issued by the Ministry or official health authorities. -KCO
