Kai Sotto to join Mighty Sports in Dubai Basketball Tournament next year

Filipinos, especially those residing in Dubai, will witness how the game of basketball prodigy Kai Sotto change since he left the country to train for a possible NBA stint.

The 17-year-old player has been preparing to be the first-ever Filipino to enter NBA.

For now, Sotto tries out what he has learned in the last eight months as he joins the Mighty Sports team in the Dubai Invitational Basketball Tournament slated for next year.

Charles Tiu, the team’s head coach announced Sotto’s inclusion in the line up through his Twitter account.

“Welcome to our Mighty Sports team @kzsottolive. Pleased to share that Kai Sotto will be playing for us in Dubai. See you there. Excited to be reunited with Kai,” Tiu said.

The TV host and coach however clarified that Sotto’s game with Mighty Sports will not affect his eligibility in the NCAA.

“I’m super excited to be coming back to Manila next month for a week to train with the Mighty Sports team under Coach Charles Tiu. Looking forward to playing as an amateur representing my country in the 31st Dubai International Basketball Championship. We are going for the gold,” Sotto tweeted.
