Amid anomalies surrounding in the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Labor Secretary Silvestro Bello III on Friday said he is planning to do a reshuffling on officers in the organization once he gets back from the 4th round of peace talks.
The announcement came after extortion allegations being committed by some officials of the POEA broke out.
Bello explained that he himself has received reports that some officials of the POEA ask for money in exchange for the release of overseas certificates of employment even by unqualified workers.
“Pag balik ko yan ang una kong atupagin. I will revamp the organizational structure of POEA. Babalasahin ko yung nangongotong doon. I already have names kung sino mga nangongotong,” ABS-CBN News quoted him as saying.
“Kahit hindi ka qualified pag nangotong ka, nagbigay ka ng amount, ilalagay nila ang pangalan mo doon kahit alam nila madidisqualify ka dahil you do not fall under the exemptions when you are allowed direct hiring,” Bello added.
