The Department of Foreign Affairs said that no Filipinos have been hurt or injured in the collapse of a parking site in New York City on Tuesday.
DFA Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs Eduardo De Vega told GMA News that the information came from the report submitted by Philippine Consul General in New York Senen Mangalile.
“Wala po sabi ni Consul General Mangalile. Nagpadala siya ng report kahapon at nakausap ko siya. Wala raw Pilipino kahit isa,” De Vega said in the interview.
One person died from the incident and five others were injured after the second floor collapsed according to a Reuters report.
Authorities said that the collapse was primarily due to structural collapse. Videos showed multiple cars stacked on top of one another in crumpled concrete.
