Robot-operated café opens in Dubai

A café and fast-food restaurant which is operated by robots has recently opened in Dubai, Al Khaleej reported.

The 7.2-million worth establishment, DJ World, currently uses an artificial intelligence system and advanced technology to conduct basic operations without human interaction—such as taking orders, delivering food, and accepting payments. The robots can also understand both Arabic and English.

Managers at the café said that the robots can also provide entertainment, such as dancing national songs, performing at social events, and simple occasions.
The owners of the restaurant added that they are currently developing similar projects that can be used in the hospitality sector, wherein hotels will be equipped with AI and automation technologies. They added that these robots can examine and detect temperature, sterilize, and tour travelers around famous spots—all without human interaction and following all safety precautions.
