China acts to curb rise of imported COVID-19 cases

China is scrambling to curb the rising numbers of imported COVID-19 cases, mostly Chinese nationals returning in the country where the highly contagious virus originated.
National Health Commission registered 39 new imported cases from other countries on Monday, bringing the total number of imported cases to 353, state-run Xinhua News reported.

The capital Beijing has ramped its measures to contain the virus, all international flights coming to Beijing will be redirected to 12 designated entry points across China starting today March 23.
The passengers will undergo virus screening before boarding a flight to the capital, state-run CCTV reported.

Passengers who manifest fever or other symptoms will be brought to designated hospitals.
A 1,000-bed hospital used to treat patients with SARS in 2003 will be repurposed to accommodate suspected and positive COVID-19 cases coming from overseas.
