Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto revealed that the local government has bought drones to disinfect its streets against the coronavirus disease or COVID-19. The young mayor also revealed that motels in the city will be turned into quarantine sites and quarters for health workers.
“Our target is to disinfect every street, big or small, in Pasig City as well as wherever there’s a request for disinfecting,” Sotto told ABS-CBN news.
“All public spaces. The roads, especially the inner roads, we try to go as much as we can and as often as we can,” he added.

Two motels also allowed Pasig to use its facilities, which can accommodate up to 600 people.
“Right now there’s no cause for alarm but we have to do everything we can to prevent this virus from spreading. One of our initiatives right now is we have set a quarantine center, so a motel lent us their facilities,” Sotto added.
“We converted a motel into a quarantine facility center and then another motel lent us their facilities for frontliners,” the mayor explained.
The city government has provided 50 vehicles for its health workers and used bike units to assist those who were forced to walk just to go to hospitals. Sotto also said that they have already set up sanitation tents in public hospitals and distributed 1,000 kits to barangays.

“This is the effort of the city gov’t to make sure they get the nutrition they need. Kailangan malakas ang resistensiya nila. We’re also giving them vitamins,” he added.
