Greenhills hostage-taker refused to accept Php1 million during crisis

Alchie Paray had refused to take away the Php1 million peso offer from the government so that he will release the hostages at a Greenhills mall in San Juan on Tuesday.
San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora added that Paray did not want to accept the money because he only wants to be heard.

“Hindi niya tinanggap kasi hindi pera ang kailangan niya eh. Ang kailangan niya marinig lang yung hinaing,” Zamora said.
Paray was triggered by unfair labor practices and complained about maltreatment from his bosses in the mall.
The disgruntled guard also accused his bosses of corruption and being lenient on tenants who pay extra cash in exchange of violating the establishment’s rules.

“He needed attention and an outlet. That’s not difficult to give to save lives,” Metro Manila Police Chief Major General Debold Sinas said when asked of the promised Php1 million to Paray during the hostage crisis.
Paray also requested his bosses to resign and apologize as part of his demands before releasing the hostages.
