The United Kingdom confirmed its first case of novel coronavirus.
The two cases were identified as members of the same family and were currently attended by National Health Service (NHS).
“The patients are receiving specialist NHS care, and we are using tried and tested infection control procedures to prevent further spreadof the virus,” England’s chief medical officer, Chris Whitty, told Reuters.
Whitty stressed that the NHS is extremely well-prepared and used to managing infections.
He added that they are already working rapidly to identify any contacts the patients had, to prevent further spread.
