An Asian woman pardoned the killer of her husband in a court in Sharjah and asked for blood money in line with Islamic law.
The killer has been on trial on charges of stabbing his friend to death while under the influence of alcohol.

He confessed to the murder but said it was in self-defense after the victim and two friends assaulted him when he refused to lend them money.
Newspapers said the defendant phoned the police to tell them that he stabbed his friend and that he would not hand himself over.

Two days later, police managed to locate his whereabouts and arrest him, the report said, adding that he was charged with manslaughter.
In the court on Monday, the victim’s wife said she was pardoning the killer and would accept diya (blood money).
The report said the judge decided to issue sentence in the next session after the defense lawyer requested reducing the charge from manslaughter to self-defense.
