A local store in Metro Manila has brought up the possibility of increasing prices of some ingredients for Noche Buena dishes due to low supply.
Prices may increase by up to P10, says Lilibeth Cablao, counter supervisor of Welcome Supermart, in an interview with GMA’s 24 Weekend news.
She said they will be forced to purchase from other suppliers with higher prices.
Here’s a list of prices of Noche Buena items:
Pasta – P33-P38 per pack
Tomato Sauce – P22-P78 per pack
Ketchup – P21-P93 per pack
Cheese – P49 – P128 per pack
Kaong – P64 per bottle
Macapuno – P98 – P220 per bottle
Hotdog – P90 per 1/2 kilogram
Bread – P35 – P65 per pack
Planning to purchase lechon?
In La Loma, Quezon City, prices have increased in the range of P500 to P1,000.
This is due to the issue about African Swine Fever (ASF) that is still affecting the hog industry in Luzon.
Now, the price of eight kilograms of lechon costs P5,000 instead of P4,500. Twenty kilograms now cost P10,000 from P9,000.
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) has set the prices of Noche Buena items and released the suggested retail price (SRP) as early as November.
DTI has yet to comment on this increase.
