It won’t be a happy New Year for some Angkas bikers as 17,000 of them will lose their means of living starting next year.
In an official statement released on Saturday, the motorcycle hailing app has announced that they will cutdown their number from the current 27,000 bikers to 10,000 bikers in compliance to a decision of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).
George Royeca, Chief Transport Advocate of Angkas, made a call to social media to help them share their message to help save the livelihood of their 17,000 bikers.
The hashtag #SaveAngkas has already trended on Twitter with more than 71,000 tweets, as of this writing.
There’s nothing but praises that spread all over Twitter and even on Facebook on Angkas bikers noting how they have became “life savers” for most of those who availed of their services.
One Twitter user with handle @fornelospat shared she booked an Angkas ride that helped her to be on time for her final exam.
Another netizen with Twitter handle @irisvicencio shared apart from helping her reach her class on time, it has also saved her from spending so much money in trying to get home.
“We all can’t lose Angkas, it’s a big part of all our lives,” she tweeted.
On its Facebook page, Angkas has organized the #SaveAngkas Unity Gathering on Sunday at 7a.m. at the EDSA Kalayaan Shrine, White Plains.
