In a brutal attack out of jealousy, a British man told his estranged wife to swallow her wedding ring before beating her to death, a court has heard.
Shaun Dyson, 28, was accused of murdering Lucy-Anne Ruston, 30, at their home in Andover, Hampshire in the early hours of June 23, reported The Sun UK.
According to the result of a post-mortem examination, they’ve found that Rushton’s body suffered from 37 broken ribs and collapsed lungs.
The couple had eloped to Gretna Green and married in 2010. But she became a victim of a “history of domestic violence” since then, according to the prosecutor.
One of their children reportedly witnessed his father early in the hour of June 3 telling Rushton, “Swallow the ring because we are not together any more.”
Moments later, Dyson made ‘strikingly calm’ 999 call. The paramedics found Rushton’s naked and lifeless body on their bed, said Prosecutor Simon Jones.
Months before Ms. Rushton died, she told her family that she feared for her safety and was ready to flee at any moment.
Dyson denied the manslaughter charges filed against him.
