Typhoon Tisoy leaves trail of death, destruction

At least four people perished and several others were injured as Typhoon Tisoy pounded many areas in the Philippines. In the aftermath, residents of the typhoon-hit areas woke up to trails of death and destruction brought by the powerful storm.

In Libmanan town in Camarines province, a villager was electrocuted while fixing the roof of his house. Another man in Oriental Mindoro died after he was pinned down by a fallen tree and another perished after he was hit by a tin roof, according to a report by Inquirer.

In Ormoc City, Leyte province, a construction worker died after he was hit by a falling tree while he was on his way home on board a motorcycle.

Typhoon Tisoy, now downgraded to Severe Tropical Storm Tisoy, also left damages in Bicol region. Flights going to the Legazpi International Airport were canceled due to the damage left by the storm.

According to state weather bureau PAGASA, Tisoy reportedly weakened with maximum sustained winds of 100 kilometers per hour and gusts of up to 125 kph.

As of 5a.m. (PH Time), Tisoy was located 275 kilometers West Northwest of Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro. It is moving towards the West Philippine Sea.
