Two people were confirmed dead in the onslaught of Typhoon Tisoy in Oriental Mindoro, according to Gov. Bonz Dolor, the province’s local chief executive.
He said no injuries were reported or missing individuals have been reported.
The province was placed under Tropical Cyclone No.3 alert at the height of Tisoy’s landfall.
Power supply was cut off in the area and some electric posts were damaged.
Dolor said distribution of relief goods for over 20,000 evacuees was ongoing.
Typhoon Tisoy made its landfall in Oriental Mindoro at 2Pm. It continues to move west and would be out of the country by Thursday, weathermen said.
In its 2 p.m. weather bulletin, PAGASA said Tisoy has weakened further.
