NAIA closes down all terminals for 12 hours on December 3 due to Typhoon Tisoy

by | News

Dec. 02, 19 | 8:46 pm

The Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) has announced that all terminals of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) will be closed for 12 hours on Tuesday (December 3).

This means no flights can go in and out of the airport from 11AM to 11PM at the expected height of Typhoon Tisoy.

Officials say that over 400 flights are expected to be affected by NAIA’s 12-hour closure.

“Nakikiusap sa mga pasahero na huwag na po silang pumunta sa ating paliparan during that particular window (11am to 11pm). Makipag-coordinate sa airline kung ano ang dapat gawin. Walang flights bukas mula alas onse ng umaga,” MIAA General Manager Ed Monreal said in a press briefing.

Typhoon Tisoy is expected to hit the country tonight, December 2, or early Tueasday morning.

“Ito po ay technically force majeure para sa safety ng pasahero,” Monreal added.

When flight operations resume, scheduled flights will be prioritized. Runway maintenance from 1:30 am to 3:30 am will also be suspended for 3 days after the resumption of flights to allow for recovery flights.
