UAE Ambassador to the Philippines Hamad Saeed Al Zaabi extended his thanks to President Rodrigo Duterte for allowing the Philippine participation in World Expo 2020 Dubai, dubbed as the “world’s greatest show”.
Al Zaabi underscored that the Philippine Pavilion at the global event would be a great venue to showcase the country’s profound cultural perspectives, reported the Manila Bulletin.
“I am also very delighted to extend our thanks to your good and friendly country the Philippines, for the continuous support and be among the participant countries in EXPO 2020 with very special pavilion design that made everyone so excited to see how Filipinos can highlight their profound cultural perspectives to the people around the world,” said Al Zaabi.
The ambassador added that the country’s participation would also be an opportunity to widen its market worldwide.
He also highlighted the significant contribution of OFWs to the continued growth of UAE economy as close to a million Filipinos live and work in the Gulf country. He stressed that this bind the two countries together.
“My country is hosting close to one million Filipinos, of course; they are working in different professions such as engineering, medical field, services sector, and so on. This is a strong proof on how the relationship between our two countries has reached in terms of employment, trade, civil aviation, and people to people, as well,” Al Zaabi said.
Meanwhile, DTI Undersecretary for Special Concerns Abdulgani Macatoman expressed confidence that the President would make it to the UAE for the opening of the global event and to visit the Bangkota-themed pavilion of the Philippines.
Expo 2020 Dubai will run from October 20, 2020 until April 10, 2021.
