160 OFWs in Jeddah finish technical, vocational courses

Some 160 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia recently completed their vocational and technical courses.

Most of the OFWs who are also regular workers finished their courses on computer literacy, aircon and refrigeration, hairdressing, CCTV essentials, solor energy, massage therapy and reflexology and bread and pastry.

The Filipino Computer Literacy Program (FILCOM) provided the training programs. It is a community-based organization that helps OFWs in acquiring additional technical skills through various training programs.

“This may help them have better career opportunities in the Kingdom,” the DFA said in  a statement.

Vice-Consul Alfred Kristoffer Guiang represented the Consulate. He lauded the graduates for giving their extra time to pursue these additional courses.

The vocational skills could be of help once they decide to use it in the Philippines and pursue their own businesses.
