Thailand teen electrocuted after old power cord malfunctioned near her bed

A girl in Thailand was electrocuted after power cords touched her bed frame while she was sleeping.

A report on the Daily Mail said the girl’s mother Boonpeng Tuponchai initially thought her daughter was just sleeping.

When she saw the teenager in her room lying in bed.

The mother then found out about her daughter’s death when she had a minor electric shock when she touched her daughter’s body.

She immediately cut the power but it was too late because her daughter was already dead.

The teenage girl suffered burns on her left hand. She was holding her handset when she was electrocuted.

Thailand Police Capt. Khanti Peansoongnern said he thinks the old power cord which had been repaired for a number of times caused the electric shock.

The investigator said the victim could’ve been electrocuted when she touched the metal bed frame.

“I think the old power strip provided an electrical leakage which ran to the bed, either through the soil on the ground, or directly touching the metal,” the officer said.

The official, however, said investigation continues and they are not ruling out other possibilities.

“However, we need to collect evidence from the scene and examine the body for the post mortem examination before we can confirm her cause of death, we will not rule anything out at this stage,” he said. (TN)
