Actress Jane Fonda was taken into police custody while she participated in a climate crisis demonstration yesterday in Washington, DC, according to reports reaching The Filipino Times.
Photos of her arrest were shared by Greenpeace USA and her Fire Drill Fridays campaign’s Twitter account.
The demonstration was the actress’ civil disobedience effort to raise awareness about environmental challenges.
Although the Capitol spokeswoman Eva Malecki did not confirm Fonda’s arrest, but she said the United States Capitol Police arrested 16 individuals for “unlawfully demonstrating on the East Front of the U.S. Capitol.
Fonda shared in an interview with The Los Angeles Times that she was inspired by environmental activist Greta Thunberg.
