The piling works of the Light Rail Transit 1 Cavite Extension Project have finally started after 19 years of delays as it experienced problems in clearing the right-of-way (ROW) in Parañaque City.
The extended rail line linking Pasay City and Cavite that reduces travel time from 2 hours to 25 minutes is the project implemented by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.
Reports from the Philippine Dairy Inquirer furthers that the piling works that involves the construction of the sixty-seven supporting piers for the elevated structure from Dr. Santos Station in Parañaque to Ninoy Aquino station has started September 1.
This will be followed by 40 piers to AsiaWorld and another 22 piers to the existing LRT 1 Baclaran station to Redemptorist Road according to the Department of Transportation.
On March 2020, the construction of 74 piers from AsiaWorld to Redemptorist will also begin.
Together, these five stations make up the first phase of the project which is expected to operate partially by 2021
DOTr said, they would speed up the construction, the conduct of piling works will be done simultaneously in areas where the ROW has been cleared already. The five stations making the first phase of the project is expected to partially operate by 2021.
