Palace: Duterte still trusts Faeldon despite BuCor mess

Presidential Spokesperson Sal Panelo said President Rodrigo Duterte continues to trust embattled Bureau of Corrections Chief Nicanor Faeldon.

Faeldon is now in the midst of controversies for allegedly signing on rape-slay convict Antonio Sanchez Aug. 20 release by virtue of Good Conduct Time Allowance (GCTA) law for convicts. The document was obtained by GMA News.

The former Calauan, Laguna Mayor was involved in the killing of UPLB students Eileen Sarmenta and Allan Gomez.

“Hanggang hindi nagsasalita si Presidente, the presumption is he still has the trust and confidence,” Panelo said in an interview.

Panelo added that Duterte has yet to comment on calls for Faeldon’s resignation over corruption claims by some lawmakers.

“Wala. Wala pa naman syang sinasabi. Hayaan natin si Presidente kung ano ang kanyang magiging desisyon diyan,” Panelo added.
