A controversial video of a foreign national who allowed her child to defecate in the shoreline of Boracay island has been circulating online, creating an uproar among netizens.
A screenshot was shared a thousand times on Facebook.
In a report, ABS-CBN News said a certain “Grace,” posted the photo after seeing the incident with her friend last Monday.
According to Grace, they were swimming in Station 1 of Boracay Island when they saw the tourist allowing the child to defecate and just covered the feces with sand.
“Nasa tubig po kame nung time na ‘yon when my friends saw the kid poop and (noong nakita ng mga kaibigan ko na nagdudumi at) hinugasan ng mom ‘yong kid,” said Grace in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
Aside from Grace, other local and foreign tourist called the attention of the foreigner.
“A lot of us were shocked and grossed-out kasi galing kami sa water. We didn’t know what to do so we just shouted yuck! yuck! to call their attention,” Grace added.
What was more horrible, was when the grandmother of the child washed the child’s underwear with sea water.
The said act is a clear violation of the Municipal Ordinance Number 311 or “Anti-Littering Law.”
According to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) the mother shall be deemed responsible of the act.
