Rescuers are facing challenges in the search and retrieval operations of recovering bodies following the three capsized motor banca in Iloilo-Guimaras Strait.
Angelie Buencuchillo, operations and warning staff of Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said rescuers having hard time amid inclement weather.
She said, search and retrieval operations might be suspended at night, as per the order of the Philippine Coast Guard.
“Challenging weather din at yong paghahanap ng ibat ibang missing kasi sa lawak ng lugar pa,” told The Filipino Times.
As of press time the number of declared casualties remains at 25, 24 of which are already identified. Nine persons are still missing while 53 survived.
Buencuchillo said, over 2,000 passengers have embarked to and from Guimaras via RO-RO vessels today since trips for motor bancas are still suspended.
