Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso has a “good chance” of being elected to a higher position if he succeeds in mayorship, Buhay party-list Rep. Lito Atienza said.
Atienza, also a former mayor of Manila, commended Moreno for clearing Divisoria, Pritil, Recto, and Carriedo, which had been the havens of illegal vendors and snatchers in the last two decades.
Atienza said he also hopes that Moreno would be “different” from former Manila mayor and president Joseph Estrada.
“Pag naging successful si Isko, meron siyang (If Isko becomes successful, he has a) good chance to go to higher office,” Atienza was quoted as saying in forum in Quezon City.
“After [President Rodrigo] Duterte, what do we do? Anybody can fill in that role,” he added. “And a good mayor of Manila is always presidentiable.”
But Atienza said he believes that it is really God who chooses leaders.
“‘Pag ikaw ang nginitian ng Diyos, ikaw ang Presidente (If God smiles on you, you will be president),” he added.
