As the protests and rallies in Hong Kong intensify, Filipinos are advised not to be near at the places where protesters converge.
In their official Facebook account, the Philippine Consulate General in Hongkong urged Filipinos to stay away from demonstration areas.
“In view of the ongoing protest movements today at Admiralty and the surrounding areas of the Central Government Offices, the Filipino public in Hong Kong is advised to stay away from the demonstration areas,” stated in the post.
The consulate further advised Filipinos to refrain from heading towards Admiralty and Wan Chai to avoid inconvenience and any untoward incident.
According to authorities, MTR operations at Admiralty and Wan Chai are currently suspended.
The AFP News Agency reported that Anti-government protesters smash windows of Hong Kong’s Legislative Council and try to force their way into the building by ramming a metal cart through the glass doors, as police respond them with pepper spray.
The tension rose between the protesters and police when the latter used pepper spray and batons against anti-government protesters.
