Manila, Philippines– The House of Representatives has approved a bill proposing to change the name of North Luzon Expressway or NLEX to Marcelo H Del Pilar Expressway.
The bill hopes to remind Filipinos about the great works of the revolutionary hero.
Authored by Bulacan Representative Joe Sy-Alvarado, House Bill No. 8958 wants to recognize and honor Del Pilar, a prolific writer and Rizal’s contemporary.
The lawmaker said that by renaming the expressway, it will help in reminding Filipinos the noble deeds done by Del Pilar. His role in the revolution and his selfless service to the nation.
Both Alvarado and Del Pilar hail from Bulacan. The Senate has yet to pass its counterpart on the bill renaming the expressway that connects Metro Manila to Northern Luzon.
