Mayon Volcano never ceases to amaze the public as it once again made the rounds on social media. This time, for the unusual umbrella-like formation of clouds capping it.
Facebook user Noli Luna’s photo went viral as it showcases an unusual sight of the volcano.
The photo uploaded on April 23 was shared 30,486 times as of this writing and gained 32,000 reactions.
Luna described in his caption that the volcano is Daragang Magayon, the heroine in the legend of Mt. Mayon, wearing her white umbrella.
The photo was taken by Luna on April 23 at 5:30 a.m.
Several Facebook users appreciated the photo taken by Luna.
Facebook user Jerson Lamadrid Montesor called it “a beautiful masterpiece of nature”.
One Facebook user Robin Yap said the cloud is called “lenticular cloud”.
According to Accuweather, this cloud is “regularly confused for UFOs throughout history due to its smooth, round or oval lens-shaped structure”.
But one Facebook user claimed that this is not the first time that this was captured through the lenses of a camera.
Another person in the name of Chito Aguilar was able to capture a similar photo but it wasn’t in the form of an umbrella.

It formed as rings that surrounded the tip of the volcano. This time, it was not a lenticular cloud but an orographic cloud or cloud ruff, according to the Cloud Association Society organization.
