An 11-year-old Asian girl (nationality withheld in media reports) passed away after sustaining major injuries when she got hit by a car drove by a 23-year-old Emirati driver in Ras Al Khaimah.
The RAK Police said that they were alerted about the incident involving the young girl on Thursday at around 8:30 PM, reported Khaleej Times.
Authorities conducted an investigation and enactment regarding the incident. They found out that the girl got hit when she was jogging on an internal road.
Captain Hamad Al Shehi, director of accident investigation and enactment, said that the victim inattentively entered the main road causing the driver to ran over her.
The victim was attended to by paramedics. Unfortunately, she died on the spot. Her body was transferred to a hospital morgue and the accident file was referred to concerned authorities for legal action.
Captain Al Shehi advised pedestrians to strictly observe traffic rules, especially at night because of poor visibility.
Likewise, he also advised drivers to be mindful of the speed limits and to keep their eyes focused on the road.
