DUBAI: Close to 300 distressed overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) were treated to an afternoon of the lighter side of life with some doing interpretative dance performances at the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), in an event organized by depression survivor and community advocate, Camille Iman in coordination with Asst. Labor Attaché Nelia Olivera.
Fahed Alblooshi, Pinoy-Emirati, cheered the wards as he greeted them and introduced himself in Tagalog, the Filipino vernacular.
Iman, who years back, almost jumped from the terrace of her room on the 14th floor on a building in Dubai, said she regularly organizes similar events “to give the wards hope, to inspire them to never give up and let them see the positivity in every negative circumstance.”
Other guest speakers were Rev. Ali Clark Paquingan and another advocate, Julianna Kong.
The event was supported by Ahalia Exchange, Mang Inasal Street, Fat Kitchen, Lovely Mood Salon, Fat Burger and El Batangueño.
