Body of 14-year-old girl found in septic tank in Cebu

The body of a young girl who went missing since April 5 was found inside a septic tank of a school in Barangay Cogon, Danao City, northern Cebu.

Authorities identified the 14-year-old girl as Tessa Marie Ygay. She is a Grade 9 student.

Police Lt. Col. Maribel Getigan, Danao City Police Station chief, said their station received a call at around 11a.m. today, April 8, from a barangay tanod informing them of a foul smell coming out of the septic tank inside Cogon Cruz Elementary School.

In an earlier interview, Police Corporal Mark Anthony Manulat, desk officer of Danao City Police Station said there was also a swarm of flies where the septic tank is located.

When the authorities reached the septic tank, they found the body of the young girl.

Getigan said that last Saturday Ygay’s sibling went to the police station to report after the victim went missing since Friday.

According to Getigan, the police are now looking to one of the security guards of the school as a person of interest.

Allegedly, the 34-year-old security guard was her boyfriend.

The investigation is still ongoing and the police are doing a hot pursuit operation against the security guard.
