A 14-year old girl died at Khor Fakkan in Sharjah last Wednesday around 5 am.
Gulf News said the girl took the car out without the knowledge of her family.
When the police rushed to the scene, the girl was found to be “seriously injured.” She was taken to Khor Fakkan Hospital but was later pronounced dead.
Speeding apparently caused the accident as well as the girl’s “lack of attention,” Gulf News said.
Eastern Region Police Department is urging parents to educate their underage children about the dangers of driving.
DoSomething.org, a global movement of youth, reported that in 2010 33 percent of deaths among 13 to 19 year olds were caused by motor crashes. And 56 percent of teens say they talk on the phone while driving.
