The construction and operation of Makati Subway is expected to create more than 6,000 jobs for Filipinos.
“The Makati subway project will create around 6,000 new jobs for Makatizens and numerous economic opportunities just for the construction and operation of the train system alone,” Makati Mayor Abigail Binay said in a media release.
Aside from the 6,000 job openings, Binay said that the modernization of the transport system in the city would also open more job opportunities in the financial capital.
The construction of the Makati Subway, also called as Makati Public Rail Transport (PRT), is set to begin this year and is expected to be completed by 2023.
Earlier, Binay said that Makati Subway will have one station near Metro Manila subway so that passengers can easily transfer from one subway line to another.
Makati subway will travel the financial district of Makati with stations on Ayala Avenue, Ospital ng Makati, Circuit Mall, City Hall and Pembo.
