A new outdoor spot perfect for sports and exercise lovers has been opened in Abu Dhabi as the winter season in the country begins.
Al Hudayriat Island near Al Bateen Beach in Abu Dhabi serves as a place where sports and fitness enthusiasts can spend a day at, reported Khaleej Times.
The island, which has been in the making for almost 10 years, spans up to 3,000 acres and has two loops of running and cycling tracks. One of the tracks measure 10 kilometers while the other measures 5 kilometers.
There are also four volleyball courts, five football fields, four beach football courts, and four basketball courts in the island, perfect for those who would like to spend the weekend with friends or colleagues.
Aside from running, cycling and other land-based activities, visitors can also enjoy other outdoor activities such as swimming and jet ski with lifeguards who are ready for emergency cases. There are also sunchairs that are available for use for free.
For kids, there is also a playground complete with swings and slides.
Other amenities that will be added in the island include mountain-bike courses, kite-surfing areas, a zip line, kayaking spots, and camping grounds.
