An overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who killed his Filipina aunt in the UAE is reportedly set to be pardoned by the victim’s family in exchange for blood money.
The suspect said before the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance that their side has contacted the family of the victim who has agreed to grant him pardon in exchange for blood money. They are still awaiting the decision of an uncle before signing the waiver as proof of the deal, reported Khaleej Times.
Court documents state that the suspect killed his aunt, who was working as a domestic helper, due to a Dh10,000 debt that he owed her in 2016. After killing his aunt, the OFW buried her body parts in the deserts of Dubai and Ajman, investigations revealed.
On May 27, 2016, the severely decomposed headless body of the victim was discovered along Al Warqa’a on Academy City Road. Her other body parts were later found in Ajman.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect killed his aunt when the latter was asking for the payment. The suspect convinced his aunt to ride a car he was driving and brought her to a deserted area in Mussafah where they ended up arguing. Following the argument, the man stabbed her several times causing her death.
The OFW admitted to the crime upon questioning. He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of premeditated murder before the court.
