An overseas Filipina worker (OFW) in Hongkong is determined to file a case against her employer who had her arrested and accused her of stealing facial masks, cigarettes, and sleeping pills.
OFW Liza Panabe was arrested on August 25 after her employer called the police to report the alleged robbery inside their residence, reported Sun.
In response, Panabe denied the allegations saying that the facial masks gave her allergic reactions when she once used it after an offer from her employer and added that she she does not smoke. Panabe then told the police that her employer was smoking marijuana to which she has a photos as proof.
Aside from smoking marijuana, Panabe said her employer was also abusing her showing the police her log book where she recorded the days when she suffered abuse from her employer. The OFW also said that there are still unpaid salaries from her employer.
Panabe was brought to Wong Tai Sin police station for her statement. While in police custody, Panabe sought help from Domestic Workers Corner Help Group where she and her sister are members of.
Panabe was eventually released after a HK$100 (Php681) bail and was advised by the police to file a complaint against her employer before the labor department.
Currently, Panabe is sheltered in the Philippine Consulate in Hong Kong.
