The new Philippine Ambassador to the Holy See, Grace Relucio-Princesa has presented her credentials to Pope Francis last Saturday, September 1, to begin her diplomatic mission.
“Nanay Amba,” as many called her, is very well-known to OFWs in the UAE. She has many plans for all the “Kababayans” in her new designation in Vatican City.
The former Philippine ambassador to UAE, Relucio-Princesa is the first female ambassador of the Republic of Philippines to the UAE, from 2009 to 2015. She worked also as Consul General in Abu Dhabi, UAE from 1994 to 1996. Having spent over two decades in the Philippine Diplomatic Service, she had previous postings in Chicago, USA; Cairo, Egypt; Baghdad, Iraq; and Geneva, Switzerland.
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte appointed Grace Relucio Princesa as the new Philippine Ambassador to the Holy See last January 2018, which the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) has welcomed.
Ambassadors are officially accredited not to the Vatican City State but to the “Holy See”, and Papal representative to states and international organizations are recognized as representing the Holy See, not the Vatican City State. (MRBG)
