The Department of Transportation (DOTr) is currently making arrangements with one of the biggest Japan-based construction companies, Shimizu Corp., to improve the country’s public transportation.
DOTr said that they talked with representatives from Shimuzu Corp., as well as Japan International Cooperation Agency, which will fund most of the subway system planned to be built in Metro Manila, reported Inquirer.Net.
The said subway project will cost at around P350 billion and aims to help solve the congested traffic condition in Manila.
It is expected to measure at least 25kms linking Taguig City and Quezon City and targeted to be completed by 2025.
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade said the first three stations could be operational by 2022.
The same report further noted that the stations of the Metro Manila subway will be located at stations will be located in Mindanao Avenue, Tandang Sora, North Avenue, Quezon Avenue, East Avenue, Anonas, Katipunan, Ortigas North, Ortigas South, Kalayaan Avenue, Bonifacio Globe City, Cayetano Boulevard and the Food Terminal Inc. complex.
