President Rodrigo Duterte warned his cabinet secretaries that they will be responsible for the delays and slippage in government projects under their department.
During the National Science and Technology Week celebration at the SMX Convention Center in Davao City, the President expressed his disappointment for the country’s road network.
President Duterte stressed that he was making a policy statement to remedy the problem of graft and corruption affecting the completion of government projects, reported Philippine Star.
“If there is any slippage of any work of any kind by the national government… You are all invited to see me in Malacañang… if it’s an issue of graft and corruption,” he directed to Public Works and Highways head Mark Villar.
Duterte said he is irritated that he has never seen a project finish on time without graft and corruption.
“Que se joda. Every program of the government ends up in an investigation. Kita mo ‘yung health? Beautiful in design, pagdating doon sa inflation, [expletive]. Ano ba itong Pilipinas? Gusto kong patayin ‘tong mga ‘to,” Duterte said.
The President also emphasized that a delayed highway project would result in the termination of its engineer.
Meanwhile, he lashed out at contractors that put off projects and corrupt government officials.
“If there is delay or slippage, they call it, and it is about 20 percent, you are out. I will cancel the contract,” he added.
In the past, Duterte fired several members of his administration for alleged corruption.
