Former president Benigno Aquino III said he continues to hold on to the truth amid an ongoing ptobe of the controversial anti-dengue vaccination program.
Aquino made the comment following the charges filed against him and several high-ranking officials under his administration including former Health secretary Janette Garin, and former Budget secretary Florencio Abad over the P3.5-billion Dengvaxia controversy.
“The only (thing) we have is the truth and with the help of God, we will overcome these challenges,” Aquino said.
Despite this, Aquino admitted there are days when the thought of him being detained like Senator Leila de Lima crossed his mind.
“Hindi natin maiwasang mag-isip ng ganun,” Aquino admitted.
Aquino and several others are also under investigation for approving the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP), a separate government fund that aimed to fasten allocation of budget on several projects without Senate or House approval.
Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) official Greco Belgica said some Php6-billion pesos of the said fund was used in “questionable” projects.
