A fact-finding team from the Office of the Ombudsman has recommended the filing of criminal and administrative charges against former Bureau of Customs Commissioner Nicanor Faeldon for his connection in the smuggling of Php6.4 billion worth of shabu seized in Valenzuela a year ago.
The special panel said it has found sufficient evidence to charge Faeldon with violation of Section 3(e) of the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, usurpation of official function, and violation of Section 32 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Faeldon may also face administrative charges for grave misconduct.
The Ombudsman panel, meanwhile, said they have not found enough evidence to indict former Davao City vice mayor Paolo Duterte, son of President Rodrigo Duterte, and lawyer Manases Carpio, husband of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, in the shabu shipment case.
Carpio is also the nephew of Ombudsman Conchita Carpio Morales, who was not part of the investigation team dealing with the case.
