Filipino R&B singer Kyla was not able to hold back her tears when she sang one of her songs during the launch of her album, “The Queen of R&B”, on April 15 at Eastwood, Quezon City.
When she was about to sing “Proper Heartbreak”, a song about two lovers drifting apart, Kyla explained that she can relate to the song as she has also experienced a devastating loss recently.
“Itong kanta na ‘to, because of an experience na nangayri last month, it gave a different meaning to the song. Actually, noong pinapakinggan ko siya, sabi ko, ‘Bakit ako umiiyak kung hindi ko naman siya na-e-experience? But naka-relate ako in a different way,” she said.
With a shaky voice, Kyla said, “I know there’s an angel watching over me right now,” before breaking down onstage.
As she was singing a line of the song which goes, “I’ve got to let you go”, tears began to fall from the 37-year-old singer’s eyes.
“I’m sorry, guys. Minsan talaga nagiging vulnerable tayo. Medyo nakaka-embarrass. I’m sorry, guys. You can never be really ready for things like that to happen. I was never prepared, but I know there’s an angel watching over me right now,” she told the audience members.
Kyla was referring to a miscarriage she had in March which her management, Cornerstone Entertainment, confirmed to ABS-CBN News.
It can be recalled that the Philippine’s Queen of Rhythm and Blues was reportedly rushed to the hospital last March due to her delicate pregnancy.
She implied through a cryptic Instagram post a few months ago that her family is going through tough times.
“No matter where life takes us, we will always have each other. We will walk side by side, together in love as a team, we will walk forward, forever together. I am incredibly blessed,” she said.
