PAL Express passes international safety audit for 3rd time

PAL Express, the budget carrier of Philippine Airlines, announced March 27 that it has successfully passed an internationally recognized evaluation test for airlines.

“PAL Express successfully completed for the third consecutive time the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA), confirming the airline’s strict compliance with international aviation safety standards,” PAL said in a statement.

PAL added that the IOSA, a rigorous test conducted every two years, “is recognized as the gold standard in airline safety assessments”.

Passing the said audit allows an airline to be included in the IOSA registry.

The audit was based on the following criteria: organization and management, flight operations, operational control and flight dispatch, aircraft engineering and maintenance, cabin operations, ground handling operations, cargo operations and security management.

PAL Express president Bonifacio Sam said that adhering to international safety standards has always been the Philippine carrier’s priority.

“In line with our continuous efforts to achieve 5-star quality rating, we will ensure that we adhere to the highest international safety standards and provide quality flights,” Sam said.

PAL has already gone through six IOSA renewals in a span of 12 years, while its budget carrier PAL Express had its first renewal in March 2016.
