First phase of Dh25-billion Sharjah’s Waterfront City project to finish in 2019

The first phase of the Dh25-billion Sharjah Waterfront City’s (SWC) construction situated in the Hamriyah zone is on track to reach the assumed completion by the end of 2019.
The ‘Sun Island’, which is under construction, has 231 villas ranging between three, four, five, and six bedrooms.

With an estimated total area around 60 million sq. ft., it is expected to be one of the largest commercial, residential and tourism development projects as it can accommodate 140,000 residents once finished.

Having eight interconnected islands, the project has an environment-friendly hydro-mechanic design that allows dynamic movement of the sea water within its canals. A water taxi and a tram will be built to link the project to neighboring emirates.

Once finished, the waterfront city will be comprised of residential and commercial units, water theme park, shopping mall, entertainment centers, mosques, schools, banks, and food establishments.

The luxurious project is being realized through the coordination of a number of international companies and specialized consultants like Delvit Hydraulique, WSP, khatib and alami, Halcro and others, as per Sharjah Oasis website.

SWC is estimated to be fully built in 8-10 years.
